On the 6th July, the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve held its 69th Annual General Meeting (AGM), a significant event that brought together the Timbavati Membership to discuss and shape the future of the reserve. The AGM is not only a platform for crucial decision-making but also a celebration of the community's dedication to conservation and sustainable development.

Warden's Report: Edwin Pierce, the Warden of the Timbavati, provided an in-depth overview of the reserve's management, wildlife conservation efforts, and the ongoing initiatives to protect the natural habitat. His report highlighted the successes in anti-poaching measures and the positive trends in wildlife population recovery.
Timbavati Foundation Annual Report: Candice Pierce, the Foundation’s General Manager, delivered the Foundation's report and underscored the impactful community and conservation projects undertaken throughout the year. From educational programs to healthcare initiatives, the Foundation has continued to make a significant difference in the lives of the local communities, fostering their connected communities & conservation cycle.
Financial Report: Transparent and meticulous, the financial report detailed the reserve's financial health, investments, and expenditures. It assured the members of the prudent management of funds and the strategic allocation of resources to critical areas.
And the award goes to... The Timbavati Foundation garnered significant recognition by receiving the Graham Naylor Award, highlighting their exceptional efforts in embracing the new enterprise support program, TSDP. This prestigious acknowledgment underscores the foundation's dedication to fostering sustainable development and economic empowerment within local communities. New Executive Committee Elected
The meeting always ends with the election of a new executive committee. This process ensures that the leadership is refreshed with new ideas and perspectives while maintaining the commitment to the reserve's values and mission. The election was conducted smoothly, reflecting the democratic spirit and active participation of the members.
Inspiring Guest Speakers: TSDP Candidates
A highlight of the AGM was the inspiring presentations by Rest Kanju, Indalo Inclusive’s Operations Director, as well as the candidates from the Timbavati Supplier Development Program (TSDP). Rest unpacking the importance of the program being run by the Timbavati Foundation and the world that it unlocks for the local entrepreurs in the Greater Kruger landscape.
Thereafter, the eight TSDP entrepreneurs, took the stage to deliver their meticulously prepared one-minute pitches, leaving the membership eager to learn more..
The TSDP program aims to empower local entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth and sustainability within the community by connecting them to the wildlife value and supply chain. The candidates’ presentations were a testament to their hard work, creativity, and the support provided by the Timbavati Foundation and Indalo Inclusive.
A Relaxed and Enjoyable Lunch
Following the formal proceedings, the Membership were treated to a relaxed and delightful lunch. The culinary experience was elevated by Kampvuur Butchery, who provided an array of delicious traditional South African dishes such as different types of potjies, spits, fresh home-made bread and a delicious malva pudding for dessert. Refreshments were on offer by The Brewery Hoedspruit and Gin & Co., adding a festive touch to the afternoon.
The lunch also featured a vibrant market-style showcase where TSDP enterprises displayed their goods. This provided a fantastic opportunity for the membership to connect with these local businesses, fostering a sense of community and support for local entrepreneurship.
