Help us Back Bruce – Burpees For Conservation Initiative – Tshembo Africa Foundation
This challenge was initiated by Tshembo Africa Foundation who selected the Greater Kruger Environmental Protection Foundation (GKEPF) as their beneficiary. Tshembo Africa Foundation is a Non-Profit Company founded during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this difficult time, we brought hope to those that had none; they play an active role in the protection of important African wilderness areas. GKEPF supports the continuous training of field rangers at the coal face of wildlife protection. Skills such as expert trackers and dog handlers are continuously developed as well as the well-being and development of the ranger force which is the basis of an effective approach to combat the constant threat on wildlife. The costs involved to maintain and constantly improve these skill sets are exorbitant and a major limiting factor.
100% OF FUNDS RAISED THROUGH #BurpeesForConservation WILL BE APPLIED TO THIS NEED.
SO WHAT’S THE CHALLENGE?
To raise money to upskill anti-poaching teams to preserve wildlife within the Greater Kruger areas. The challenge aims to motivate more than 10 000 people in over 30 countries around the world to improve their fitness levels by starting the biggest worldwide burpee (see below for description) challenge for the conservation of African wildlife.
THE GOAL
To collectively achieve 1 MILLION burpees to raise 1 million ZAR within 10 days!
Starting 15th March 2021!
WHAT IS A BURPEE?
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Hinge at the hips and bend your knees to squat as deeply as you can and place your hands on the floor. Jump feet back to come into a high plank position (top of a push-up). With core engaged, bend elbows to lower chest to the floor, like a push-up. Press back up as you jump your feet back into a deep squat and jump (or stand) right back up, landing on the balls of your feet.
OUR MOTIVATOR - THE MAIN MAN
BRUCE LAWSON is a Wilderness & Trails Guide & Instructor with over 20,000 hours walking in the African bush, he has an immense passion for fitness and is a Functional & Personal Fitness Trainer. Combining both passions, he will attempt a world record and achieve 30,000 BURPEES IN 10 DAYS for conservation from his hotel room in Australia, while being quarantined. This will be streamed live.
THE TIMBAVATI IS BACKING BRUCE AND #BurpeesForConservation
Bruce’s dedication, physical and mental fitness and passion for conservation are inspirational and motivated our Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Field Ranger core to back Bruce in this insane challenge he faces ahead. In accepting the challenge, our team will be taking on 1000 burpees in just 10 days (100 burpees per day) to show their support for Bruce.
Their commitment and willingness to participate were immediate and driven by excitement, even though they had NEVER done a burpee before. Our Sargent - Orlart Ndlovu; Full Corporal - Ferdrick Ndlovu; Lance Corporal - Sherphered Maunye, and 2 junior field rangers; Themba Nyathi and Ntiyiso Mzimba together with our COO Krystle Woodward, will complete this challenge and show support to Bruce to help him break his world record and contribute to conservation while doing so! GO BRUCE!
