Reliving incredible moments – a guest review

Motswari, a much-loved lodge in the Timbavati, recently received an encouraging guest review. This just goes to show how stunning our natural landscape is, and how Motswari's dedicated staff boost the experience.

This was the first time we had the pleasure of visiting Motswari, located in the beautiful Timbavati and Umbabat Private Nature Reserve, and what an amazing place it is. Everything from the food to the people, the rangers and the trackers were just great.

We had so much luck with animal sightings, right from our very first game drive where, within 3 hours, we had the privilege of meeting the majestic Big Five. A huge thanks to our ranger, Peter. He gave us the wonderful opportunity to witness lions, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, leopards and cheetahs in their natural environments. It was truly incredible to sit amongst a huge herd of elephants and just watch the animals in their world.

The excitement continues

The second evening was fantastic and witnessing a sunset in Motswari is a truly memorable experience. In the evening, we met a leopard carrying its prey, followed closely by two hungry hyenas.

In the morning, we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a pride of lions who had made themselves comfortable right beside the road. We were only a few meters from them and it was incredible to just spend time with them hanging around our safari vehicle.

We then met a group of hyena puppies, followed by some young wild dogs. Both packs were playing in the morning sun and looked like they were having the time of their lives.

Highlight moment

The crowning glory of the morning, however, was witnessing an incredible cheetah, who had just finished eating. A huge thanks to Chad for showing us all this, just within a few hours!

In April, we will be returning to Motswari to show our daughter and her fiancé the wonderful world of the African bush and we are certain they are going to love it as much as we did. We are already excited about reliving these incredible moments and can’t wait to return.
