Earth Hour 2017

Today, 25th March, is Earth Hour and at Tanda Tula we will be eating by lantern light, to show our union with the rest of the world for this amazing environmental cause.

Earth Hour is the world’s largest united grassroots movement for our environment.

It was started by the WWF ten years ago in Sydney in order to bring awareness to people about climate change.

The concept is to show how much energy can be saved globally during the hour of darkness and hopefully inspiring people to live more sustainably.

Earth Hour is celebrated across all continents and has helped bridge the gap between environmentalists and corporate powers, making it something accessible to everyone.

It was started as a means of showing political powers that people really care about the environment.

In Argentina, the support shown by the people during Earth Hour has helped with the development of a marine protected area measuring 3.4 million hectares.

In Uganda jointly business's and local communities have come together and formed the first Earth Hour Forest.

Famous landmarks that support this cause include The Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Acropolis.
