At Tanda Tula Safari Camp we understand that there is a huge need for adult literacy throughout South Africa, and everyone needs to play their part to help those that cannot help themselves. As such, Nina Scott (Managing Partner of Tanda Tula) founded an adult literacy programme. The classes, which are headed up by Anne Watt, are focused on reading, writing, comprehension, conversation and general knowledge in the English language.
On a recent trip to town I bumped into two magnificent male lions which had moved in from the west. The scene was very special, as the sun was slowly appearing over the horizon while the two large males slowly trundling down the main road.
A few days ago we were treated to a spectacular morning drive, with a number of exceptional sightings. A pack of wild dog were found early in the drive and although we had to take our time to get to the sighting, our patience was rewarded and we were treated to something special.
Last weekend delivered some fantastic sightings. The action all took place within a kilometre radius and guests were treated to seeing four large predators within a few hours.
We were lucky enough to see one of the white lionesses from the north who had just fed and was relaxing under a thicket. Unfortunately this didn't allow me a chance for a decent photo, but nonetheless she looked in wonderful condition and it is just a matter of time before a large male takes a serious interest in her.
A few days ago I was very fortunate to witness a very special moment. A Spotted Bush Snake managed to catch and consume a Foam Nest Tree Frog. This unique sighting took place in our safari camp and both species are fairly prevalent in the area and are seen often.

The weekend delivered some wonderful sightings in and around our safari camp with the highlight being Rockfig Junior and her young cub. This is the first decent sighting I have had of the young cub who now looks to be around 3 to 4 months old. Our guests are often in awe when they see the big five, with the leopard being a huge favourite.
As many of you may already know, Tanda Tula Safari Camp has been the chief benefactor of the “Save the Elephants South Africa (STE-SA)” NPO, for numerous years. The research centre is located within Tanda Tula, offering our guests a unique experience to see the work that the researchers are doing.
Over the last few days we have been treated to amazing leopard sightings. This beautiful cat is without a doubt a big favourite for anyone visiting the bush, whether it is for the first time or not.
Every so often we are fortunate enough to witness a remarkable sighting, and on Thursday evening we were treated to something really special. This was not only special for us and our guests, but for the entire Timbavati, as what we saw in front of us was a four day old rhino calf with a very proud mother.
