Sightings of dispersed birds continue to be sent in and we now have 9 dispersal records of birds ringed in the APNR appearing either with new groups within the APNR or with groups in Kruger National Park.
Welcome back to our regular followers and to those of you who are new, this month there were numerous amazing sightings again in the magnificent Timbavati Game Reserve. Summer seems to be in full swing as the temperatures soared again and the evening thunderstorms were absolutely amazing to watch with some spectacular lightning and thunder.

Spring has arrived and the bush is looking amazing after about 25mm of rain that we have had!
The grass turned green, nice smelling flowers came out and the bush is in general very lively with plenty of bird activity and amazing sightings of general game.
We had amazing sightings right throughout and it was a wonderful month for photography!

The month of April is one of my favorite months as it celebrates the start of the cooler months ahead. The colours of the bush are so vibrant when the morning dew finds a spot on the vegetation which enhances the colour of trees and grasses. The bush is still very green and the grass quality and quantity is still in abundance, making winter feeding for the grazers and browser good.
On Saturday 14 April, the Hoedspruit Airforce Base hosted a special day dedicated to saving the rhinos. Throughout the day numerous events were held, all focused on creating awareness of the ever present rhino poaching problem. One of the events was a 42km relay marathon, which the Timbavati won!
