18 October: Female Leopard & Cub

It’s an iconic African image; a leopard draped across a branch high up in a tree. It’s the top sighting on the wish list for most Tanda Tula guests and yesterday, we got our wish and more!

We found the female we know as Ntombi with one of her 8 month old cubs. The remnants of their lunch, the leg of an unfortunate impala hung below them as the two enjoyed and afternoon nap.

Below, a pair of young hyenas circled the base of the tree, eyeing the dangling impala remains. Would they get lucky and have dinner fall at their feet? We don’t know if their patience paid off as darkness fell and we headed back to camp for our dinner.
